Notes and privacy
Section titled “Notes and privacy”- Country, region and city are estimates based on the IP address. They may differ from your actual location and do not identify an individual or street address.
- The network organization is the AS organization reported by Cloudflare. It may differ from your contracted ISP. Missing values appear as “Unknown” without guessing.
- Network details describe the normal connection IP. VPNs, proxies and different IPv4/IPv6 routes can produce different IP addresses or organizations for ipify and the normal connection.
- On page load and refresh, your browser connects directly over HTTPS to api4.ipify.org and api6.ipify.org, sending the IP used for each connection to ipify. Cookies and page referrers are omitted. See the official ipify website for details.
- This tool does not store IP information on the application side or add application access logs. Cloudflare standard logs are governed by Cloudflare’s practices. See our Privacy Policy.
- Network errors, CORS restrictions, browser blocking and lack of IPv4/IPv6 support cannot be reliably distinguished. Unavailable results show a retrieval error while successful results remain visible.
What is a public IP address?
Section titled “What is a public IP address?”A public IP address identifies a connection on the Internet. You may see the address of a home or company router, VPN or proxy exit, rather than your device’s local IP address.
How do IPv4 and IPv6 differ?
Section titled “How do IPv4 and IPv6 differ?”IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses such as 192.0.2.1. IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses such as 2001:db8::1, providing a much larger address space. These examples are documentation addresses.
IPv4 and IPv6 use separate address systems, so a connection supporting both receives different addresses. Routing and VPN coverage can also change the source seen by each service.
What can an IP address tell you?
Section titled “What can an IP address tell you?”It can suggest a country or region and identify an autonomous system number and its registered organization. Location estimates have limited accuracy and may refer to a provider’s infrastructure. The time zone’s UTC offset reflects daylight saving time at the time of display.
